Top Tips for Attending Online or Telephone Medical Appointments
Find somewhere quiet and private.
Check that you have a good internet signal. Test any links and familiarise yourself with the platform or site you are using. Ask a family member or friend for help if you have someone available.
Try and limit distractions.
Turn on the light but don’t have the light directly behind you.
Have any GP or medical letters with you along with a record of any medication you might be on. If you are at home have the medication to hand.
Write down in advance any symptoms you are experiencing, what you are concerned about and any questions you want answering.
Ask for an interpreter if you need one.
Write down the doctors name, what they recommend next and any dates or times of future appointments.
Repeat the agreed actions at the end of the call so that both you and the clinician agree the way forward.
