a) Have you commissioned any provisions within your local area for any patient who has suffered a bereavement? Yes

(b)  Do you offer any bereavement counselling? Yes

(c)    If answer to (b) is yes who is commissioned to provide that counselling and what type of counselling is available?

St. Ann’s Hospice: Depending on the needs of the individual bereavement support  is available via bereavement support workers or  bereavement counselling provided by qualified and registered counsellors.

Beechwood Cancer Care: Depending on the needs of the client there is an informal bereavement support groups for social support or one to one informal support or counselling.

Francis House: Bereavement support to families after the death of a child or young adult as appropriate based on their needs.

(d)   What is the current waiting time for access to bereavement counselling for those patients who have experienced the loss of a child at the following stages:

i)                    Miscarriage

ii)                   Abortion due to fetal abnormality

iii)                 Stillbirth

iv)                 Neonatal Death

v)                  SIDS

vi)                 Any other loss of a child

Bereavement support at Francis House is available immediately upon the death of a child as the service includes quiet space to spend  time with the deceased. Waiting times for counselling are dependent on the individual needs of the bereaved. Some will be supported purely by the bereavement support services and not require counselling, some will step up to counselling from support.

(e)   Is bereavement counselling offered to siblings and wider family members e.g. grandparents?

St. Ann’s Hospice: Services are available to all St Ann’s patients, their families & carers pre and post bereavement.  

Beechwood Cancer Care: Services commissioned at Beechwood are available to adult family members.

Francis House: This service is available to the full family of a deceased child.

(f)     i. How much does your CCG spend on back office and administrative support?  £6.45 million for 2016/17

ii. Does this include any external providers? yes

(g)    If the answer to (e.ii) is yes, who have you commissioned to do this work and could you list any third sector organisations? This includes Property Rent, utilities, Property Management and all costs associated with premises related costs.
