CCG FOI 615 – Extended GP Access Services

Responded to: 9th June 2016

I was wondering if there are extended GP access services being provided in the CCG area?

For example a local provider running GP surgeries when your usual GP is closed during evenings and weekends. This would be in addition to the out of hours service.

There is a service to offer planned booked appointments for 6 hours on Saturday and 3 hours on Sunday (this is mainly for review of LTC conditions aimed at those people who work and do not access asthma reviews, diabetes reviews etc in their practices.  During the week all practices offer additional surgeries in excess of the usual contract hours depending upon the size of the practice.  These appointments are arranged following consultation with the patient participation group for that practice so vary across the area.

If so, please can you advise who is providing the service and their contact details?

At the weekends the service is provided by Viaduct Health chief exec – Dr Ash Patel – ash.patel2@nhs.net
