We Want Your Views

The local NHS and Council in Stockport are asking for the public’s help to create a health and social care system fit for the future.

They are holding a series of events throughout the borough over the next six weeks to explain the changes that are happening in Stockport’s health and social care.

At the events we’ll be asking for your views about other changes that could be made and how you think any of these changes might affect you and your family as well as your community.

Work on these changes has been going on for two years and has already had considerable input from the public from various community groups across the borough.

Leading NHS figures will be on hand at the ten borough-wide events to not only explain why and how things are changing, but also to listen to the views of the public.

The discussions will include the need to bring health and social care teams together, investment in ways to prevent people getting ill, more investment in mental health services and carrying out more health care in your local community.

Dr. Ranjit Gill, a local GP and the Chief Clinical Officer of NHS Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group, said “It’s vital that we get the views of as many people as possible on our plans for the future.

“It may be that some of the changes we are thinking about making might have an effect on people that we had not considered. Nobody’s views will be ignored so please come along to one of the events and have your say.”

Councillor Wendy Wild, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Stockport Together and Health and Social Care integration, said: “These events will not only give you the opportunity to understand the health and social care challenges we face in Stockport, but also how we aim to address these problems.

“I would urge you to attend your local event so we can make sure we collate as many views and feedback as possible in order to further shape our plans.”

As well as these events, the views of the public will be sought by other methods including focus groups, information stalls, and paper and online surveys.
