The Town Centre Pop Up Vaccination Site Returns to Stockport This Week

The pop up Covid-19 vaccination site organised by NHS Stockport Clinical Group (CCG), supported by Stockport Council, will once again be at Mersey Square in Stockport Town Centre this Thursday, 27 May, 2021, and Friday, 28 May, 2021, from 10am to 4pm. No appointment is required.

Last Friday, 21 May, and Saturday, 22 May, St John Ambulance and Everest Pharmacy, supported by The Royal Voluntary Service, vaccinated hundreds of people with their first dose of the vaccine. Anyone who missed out now has another chance to get their first vaccination this weekend.

The mobile vaccination unit will be located outside Superdrug in Mersey Square offering first vaccinations to anyone 30 years of age and over (age subject to change as government advice changes), health and social care workers, unpaid carers and anyone with underlying health conditions.

The available vaccine is the AstraZenaca-Oxford vaccine and, in line with national guidance, everyone is assessed upon arrival to ensure that the vaccination is suitable for them to have. Anyone who cannot have it, or does not want to have it, will be signposted to another vaccination point for an alternative vaccine.

Those who are eligible will be able to get their AstraZenaca-Oxford vaccination quickly and safely by trained vaccinators and marshals will be on hand to ensure that social distancing measures are in place.

Vaccination appointments are also available at other sites across the region, including The Eithad Campus, Brookdale Club and Theatre, Bramhall, and Woodley Civic Hall, Woodley, which can be booked online at www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or by calling 119 for free, seven days a week, between 7am and 11pm.

It is the second dose of the vaccine which offers maximum protection, so it is also important that anyone who has had the first vaccination books their second as soon as they receive the invitation.

Dr Cath Briggs, Chair of NHS Stockport CCG, said “The pop up vaccination site is a great way to offer even more people a chance to get vaccinated at a local and convenient site.

“I encourage anyone who hasn’t yet had their vaccine, and is eligible, to take this opportunity to get theirs.”
