Thank You Stockport – Message from Andrea Green, Accountable Officer at Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group

Thank You Stockport

Message from Andrea Green, Accountable Officer at Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group

Today marks the 73rd birthday of the NHS and this is a year we’ll all remember with the challenge of the pandemic. It has been a year like no other, not just for our NHS, but for the country as a whole and now, moving forward, we have a new found optimism.

I want to thank everyone who has played a part in helping us work together through the pandemic.  I have seen a real passion to make a difference from simple acts of kindness from helping a neighbour through to all the local volunteers who registered thousands of people for their vaccinations.

Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, hospitals have cared for around 400,000 seriously ill Covid patients, including more than 100,000 admitted in January alone, along with millions more besides. At the same time the NHS has rolled out the biggest vaccination programme in our history, the fastest in Europe and most precise in the world.

We have all played a part in creating history and going forward it is vital that we keep the passion alive for making things better, not just for our local health services, but Stockport as a whole.

So I want to use our 73rd birthday as an opportunity to Say a Big Thank You to the people of Stockport. Without you, and your support, we could never have achieved what we have over the past year.
