Stockport residents urged to join ‘big conversation’ on mental health

Stockport residents are invited to find out more about the future of mental health services and give their feedback as part of a ‘big conversation’ engagement day.

The event, run by Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, which operates mental health services in the area, will include an update on recent changes to local services and the devolution of health and social care in Greater Manchester.

Representatives from Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group will explain their role in commissioning mental health services and the Trust has also invited Stockport Council, local charities and patient groups.

The afternoon session will include focus groups to allow people to give their opinions on different aspects of mental health care as well as a question and answer session with the expert panel.

Stan Boaler, Mental Health Service Director for Pennine Care, said: “This event is a chance for us to outline the changes which will impact on mental health services in Stockport in the coming months and years, including the Stockport Together health and social care reform vanguard, the Greater Manchester Devolution scheme, and to get valuable feedback from the public.

“We’d encourage anyone who has experience of our mental health services as a patient, carer or family member to come along and share their thoughts.”

The event is open to all Stockport residents and will be at the Masonic Guildhall on Wellington Street South on Thursday 2 June from 10am to 3pm. Lunch will be provided.
