Over 200,000 of adults registered with a Stockport GP have received their first Covid-19 vaccination and almost 150,000 have also received their second dose.
This means that 80% of adults, registered to a Stockport GP, have had their first dose and 59% of those people have also had their second dose. Remember it’s never too late to get vaccinated – either your first or second dose.
Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group’s (CCG) vaccination programme swung into action in January. The borough’s Primary Care Networks, working together with GP Practices, were the first to offer vaccination clinics in venues such as Heald Green Village Hall and Hazel Grove Baptist Church.
Community pharmacies were next to sign up to the programme, followed by the popular pop up clinics. These have appeared in Merseyway, Bramhall, Heaton Mersey and Brinnington, making it easy for people to get vaccinated closer to home.
This massive programme can’t happen without the support of Stockport Council and all the volunteers who continue to give up their time to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Dr Cath Briggs, Chair of Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “The vaccination programme has been a huge team effort and we are very proud that we have vaccinated so many people in such a short period of time. There is still much more work to do to make sure as many people as possible are invited for their vaccination.
“It’s just as important to get your second dose when it’s time as it’s only with both doses that you get your maximum protection against COVID-19, so book an appointment or head to a pop up when you get your invitation.”
Councillor Jude Wells, Cabinet Member for Adult Care and Health, Stockport Council, said: “Congratulations to NHS Stockport CCG for reaching the important milestone of 200,000 patients vaccinated against Covid in the borough.
“Each and every one of the people who has had their vaccination has played their part in helping to make Stockport a safer, healthier place for its residents, so thank you very much.”
Appointments must be booked for all locations (apart from the pop up clinics) through the National Booking Service at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/ or by calling 119 for free, seven days a week, between 7am and 11pm.
