Stockport Health Protection & Screening Awards

The local NHS annual Health Protection and Screening awards have been honouring Stockport’s GP practices that have been pulling out all the stops to put cancer screening and prevention at the head of the agenda.

The borough’s Health Protection team picked out a number of practices for awards as a thank you for their extra commitment to patients.

The awards went to:
Special Recognition Award: Public Health Engagement
Heaton Moor Medical Group – for range of excellent work on PH preventative programmes.

Most Innovative Practice Cancer Champion
Tessa Batty, BL Medical Practice

Outstanding Contribution to Cancer Prevention
Gill Poyser, South Reddish Medical Group

Most Improved Bowel Screening
The Guywood Practice (Dr Patel) – increased to 69.6% (National Average 57.3%)

Most Improved Cervical Screening
Bredbury Medical Centre (Dr Beardsell) increased to 77.1% (National average 71.7%)

Margaret Wallis, Heaton Norris Health Centre – range of measures to support cancer screening uptake rates
