Stockport’s best GP flu fighters have been acknowledged by Stockport Council.
The Council’s annual Health Protection Awards recognise the excellent work of GP Practices, health and social care teams and care home providers in making Stockport the leading area in the country for fighting the flu.
The awards presented by Stockport’s Mayor, Councillor Linda Holt, were held at Pinewood House at Stepping Hill Hospital.
Mayor of Stockport, Councillor Linda Holt said: “It was fantastic hearing about the excellent practice that goes on in immunising our population against the flu and I congratulate all the winners on their hard work.”
Dr Donna Sager, Stockport Council’s Deputy Director of Public Health said: “Once again Stockport GP practices and health and social care teams have excelled themselves and immunised more people against the flu than ever before. These awards were a small way of acknowledging, celebrating and sharing their good practice.”
The winners were as follows:
• Most Improved GP Practice: Influenza Campaign: Dr Beardsell & Partners, Bredbury Medical Centre
• GP Practice achieving the highest % vaccination rate in pregnant women (100%) Joint Winners – The Surgery, Brinnington & The Guywood Practice, Romiley
• GP practice vaccinating highest % over 65’s (99.4%) The Surgery, Brinnington
• GP Practice vaccinating highest % of 2 & 3 Year olds , 92.9% (2 year olds) 96.6% (3 year olds) The Guywood Practice, Romiley
• GP Practice vaccinating highest % of patients in “At Risk” group: The Surgery, Brinnington (100%)
