Stockport GPs flying high

Local practices performing well

Stockport’s GP surgeries have come out with flying colours in a nationwide survey aimed at gauging patient satisfaction with their services.

The independent survey, conducted by Mori, focussed on ten areas of patient experience including questions around making appointments, waiting times, opening hours and the level of care received.

In every area, Stockport’s GP surgeries overall performed better than the national average – on some topics by as much as 6%.

For the central question, “Overall how would you describe your experience of your GP surgery?” 88% of Stockport patients classed it as fairly good or very good compared to 85% nationally.

When it came to asking patients if they had confidence in the GP they saw, 94% in Stockport said yes whilst nationally it was 92%.

NHS Stockport CCG’s Chief Clinical Officer and local GP, Dr Ranjit Gill said “We are pleased but not surprised by the survey results. Practices here work very hard to provide patients with a quality service. However, even though we are above the national average, we know that improvements can still be achieved and the CCG will continue to work with practices to ensure that this happens.”

The survey is carried out twice yearly and on this occasion over five thousand patients in Stockport completed it.
