Stockport EDUCATErs get funds boost

Stockport’s innovative EDUCATErs have received a generous boost from staff in the borough’s care industry.

During a celebratory awards event, set up as a way of thanking the industry’s loyal and dedicated staff working in care, £327 was raised through a raffle and auction for the dementia group.

EDUCATE (Early Dementia Users Co-operative Aiming to Educate) are a Stockport-based group of people living with dementia who raise awareness about the disease by, amongst other things, talking to groups and at events and conferences.

The award winning group aim to inspire others to live well with dementia, and to involve people with dementia in the life of their communities.

The organisers of the Stockport Stars awards evening from Stockport CCG handed over the cheque to two EDUCATErs Joan Palmer and Steve Clifford.

Anita Rolfe, Stockport CCG’s Executive Nurse, said “We were delighted to be able to support EDUCATE who do such amazing work not just in Stockport but all over the country.”
