Ring NHS 111 First this May Spring Bank Holiday

If you need medical help this Bank Holiday Monday, 31 May, remember to call NHS 111 First for advice.

GP practices in Stockport will be closed on Monday, 31 May, so if you have an urgent medical need, call NHS 111 First day or night. It’s a free number, open 24 hours a day, and you will be directed to the most appropriate service to use.

Contacting NHS 111 First will help ensure that patients receive the right care in the right place. It’s not always necessary to go to A&E and there are a range of options for advice and help. If your condition is serious or a life-threatening emergency, call 999 immediately or go to your nearest emergency department.

A number of Stockport pharmacies will be open on a rota basis and you can see the list on the Greater Manchester Local Pharmaceutical Committee’s website: https://psnc.org.uk/greater-manchester-lpc/our-news/easter-may-bank-holiday-hours/

The NHS Health A-Z guide may also provide the help and advice you are looking for https://www.nhs.uk/.

Dr Cath Briggs, Chair of Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Calling NHS 111 First is the quickest way to get medical advice. If the emergency department isn’t the right place for you, you will be directed you to a more appropriate local service such as a pharmacist or an out of hours service.

“Save NHS 111 First under contacts in your phone, so you can get to it quickly whenever you need it. If you have an elderly relative or neighbour, write the number where they can see it. Remember if you need medical help, ring 111 First.”
