Mental Health Carers Group Stockport has launched a campaign – ‘One Size Does Not Fit All in Mental Health’.
The campaign aims to get the best individual treatments, services and support, built on the latest knowledge and research, for young working age adults in Stockport suffering with severe mental health conditions, so they and the family and friends that support them can live a better life.
You can support the campaign by putting up the posters to raise awareness of these severe mental health conditions – which are not widely spoken about – so people know where to turn to for help from others who have been going through similar situations.
Irene Harris, chair of Mental Health Carers Group Stockport, said: “It is time for change. One size does not fit all in mental health – it is not like a broken leg.
“We want more money to be spent on new research. We feel if these incurable, life-changing illness, which start at the age of 16 or even younger, were cancer, not schizophrenia, bi-polar or borderline personality disorder (BPD), our expectations to get our loved ones on trials and try to get the best treatments and answers to their illnesses would be par for the course – not a constant battle.”
