Make Having the Covid-19 Vaccination Your Next Step

NHS Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group is now inviting anyone 16 or over, subject to eligibility, to make having the vaccination their next step.

The CCG’s pop up clinic, supported by Stockport Council, will be taking place on Thursday, 12 August, at Heaton Mersey Mosque, Battersea Road, Stockport, SK4 3QR, and on Friday, 13 August, at Life Leisure Brinnington Park Complex, Northumberland Road, Stockport, SK5 8LS.

Anyone who has not had their first vaccination, or has had their second at least 8 weeks ago, is encouraged to come and get theirs.

Both clinics will have the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines available and it is the Pfizer vaccine which will be offered to those under 40. There is no need to book and parental consent is not required for 16 and 17 year olds.

The Government has announced that anyone 16 or over is now eligible to be vaccinated against Covid-19 following guidance from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI). The vaccination programme has been extended to help reduce the spread of the disease amongst young people.

With A level results already published, and GCSE results out later this week, many young people across Stockport will be starting a new journey.

Those leaving home, moving onto college or starting work are encouraged to get their first vaccination before they enter a new environment and meet new people.

Dr Cath Munro, Chair of NHS Stockport CCG, said: “It’s so easy to get vaccinated at one of our pop up clinics and I encourage anyone 16 or over, who hasn’t yet been vaccinated, or is eligible for their second, to come along on Thursday or Friday to get theirs.

Councillor Colin Foster, Cabinet Member for Education, Stockport Council, added: “Well done to all students collecting their results this week after studying through such a challenging time during the pandemic.

“If you’ve got the grades and are now going to university, hoping to undertake other further and higher education or planning to enter the workplace, please make sure you help protect yourself and those around you by getting your Covid-19 vaccination.”
