Heaton Chapel Hosts This Week’s One-Day Vaccination Pop Up

South Manchester Muslim Community Association hosts this week’s vaccination pop up on Friday, 17 September between 10am and 3pm. The pop up van, which is open to everyone aged 16 and over, will be in the mosque’s car park in 2 Weybrook Rd, off Wellington Road North, M19 2QD.

The pop up will offer the Pfizer jab for 16-17 year olds while first and second timers aged 18 or over can receive Pfizer and Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccinations. Second doses can be given if eight weeks (56 days) have passed since receiving the first dose, subject to eligibility.

The mosque is happy for drivers to use their car park. This will be especially convenient for people who find walking difficult since it will only take a few steps to get from the car into the pop up.

Dr Cath Munro, Chair of NHS Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “This week, our mobile pop up is hosted by our friends at South Manchester Muslim Community Association, who have kindly allowed our pop up van to open its doors on-site in  Weybrook Road.

“This is part of our continued effort to protect our communities whilst also getting on with ‘normal life’ in the safest way possible, together. Stockport is doing so well. Let’s plan to keep our momentum and strength going.”

Councillor Jude Wells, Cabinet Member for Adult Care and Health at Stockport Council, said: “The walk-in pop up at the South Manchester Muslim Community Association mosque is in a really handy location, so I hope we see even more people stepping forward for their first or second jabs.

“If they miss this pop up on Thursday, it’s also good to remember that there is a new vaccination clinic, with opening hours to cater for busy lifestyles at Trinity Church in Bramhall every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.”

The vaccination clinics held at Trinity Church in Bramhall, run by Scorah Chemist, now offers regular weekly opening times for walk-ins and booked appointments. They open from 8am to 8pm on Thursdays and Fridays, from 8am to 6pm on Saturdays, and 8am to 4pm on Sundays.

There are many vaccination options available in Stockport. These include walk-ins without booking and also booking ahead through the National Booking Service. All of these can be seen here: www.stockportccg.nhs.uk/news/covid-19-vaccination-options/
