Additional update since publication, the age criteria is now 34 years of age and over which is in line with the updated government guidance which came into effect on Thursday, 20 May, 2021.

A walk in pop up Covid-19 vaccination site organised by NHS Stockport Clinical Group (CCG), supported by Stockport Council, will arrive at Mersey Square in Stockport Town Centre on Friday, 21 May, 2021, and Saturday, 22 May, 2021, from 10am to 4pm. No appointment is required.

St John Ambulance, with its mobile vaccination unit, and Everest Pharmacy will be located outside Superdrug in Mersey Square. They will be delivering first doses of the AstraZenaca-Oxford vaccine to anyone 36 years of age and over, health and social care workers, unpaid carers and anyone over 30 with underlying health conditions.

Those who are eligible will be able to get their AstraZenaca-Oxford vaccination quickly and safely by trained vaccinators and marshals will be on hand to ensure that social distancing measures are in place.

Vaccination appointments are also available at other sites across the region, including The Etihad Campus and Brookdale Club and Theatre, Bramhall, at www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or by calling 119 for free, seven days a week, between 7am and 11pm.

It is the second dose of the vaccine which offers maximum protection, so it is also important that anyone who has had the first vaccination books their second as soon as they receive the invitation.

Dr Cath Briggs, Chair of NHS Stockport CCG said, “It is great news that NHS Stockport CCG, Stockport Council, St John Ambulance and Everest Pharmacy have worked together to provide a local and convenient place to get vaccinated.”

“I encourage anyone who hasn’t yet had their vaccine, and is eligible to come forward, to get theirs as soon as possible.”

Jen Connolly, Director of Public Health for Stockport, said: “I urge everyone in the eligible cohorts to drop in and get your vaccine if you are eligible.

“With the new more transmissible variants in circulation causing concern across the country, it’s more important than ever that everyone does their bit and gets vaccinated if they can. This pop up is a fantastic way to easily access your first dose.”
