Future Plans for Health Leaders at Stockport CCG

After steering Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) into the final stages of a move into a new integrated care organisation Dr Cath Munro, Chairperson, and Andrea Green, the Accountable Officer, have announced their future plans.

Dr Cath Munro is relocating to live and work in the Lake District and leaves the CCG on Thursday, 31 March, 2022.  After more than 39 years in the NHS, Andrea Green will be retiring and leaves the CCG at the end of April.

As the CCG moves into the final months of transition to the NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care organisation, it will seek the views of members who represent the local primary care practices on the recruitment of a Chair.  Phil Winrow, the current Vice Chair of the CCG, and Anita Rolfe, the Deputy Accountable Officer and Executive Nurse, will ensure the CCG can continue to operate within the CCG Constitution.

Cath has been the Chair since 2018 and extended her role beyond the usual three years to support CCG transition to the Integrated Care Board.  Cath accepted a new clinical role in South Cumbria to start at the beginning of April, before the decision was made to delay the original date for the move to an integrated care organisation.

During her time at the CCG, Cath has taken a clinical leadership role on both homelessness and planned elective care that needs specialist medical care or surgery, not only across Stockport but the whole of Greater Manchester. As a working GP and partner based at the Bracondale Medical Centre in Heaviley, Stockport, Cath has also worked at building links between the CCG and Stockport practices.

Andrea joined the CCG as the Chief Accountable Officer in September 2019. In her role, she has been instrumental in building great relationships across Stockport’s health and care partners and empowered them to achieve the service improvements required at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and co-chaired the SEND Board to improve the services offered to parents, children and young people with special education needs.

In particular, a focus of Andrea’s work has been leading and supporting CCG staff through the pressures of the pandemic and preparing them for the move to an integrated care organisation.

Cath said: “I have lived in Stockport for 25 years and worked as a GP here for 15 years. My children have grown up here and, as I leave, I will take many wonderful memories with me. I have been so lucky to work alongside many wonderful and passionate people during my clinical and commissioning career and feel honoured to have been part of some fabulous work in improving the quality and safety of care in Stockport.

“I am very proud of all the work that has been done in Stockport where we focus on doing the right thing for the whole of our population, especially those who face the biggest challenges and health inequalities, and I will take many positive experiences into my new role in Kendal.”

Andrea said: “Being an Accountable Officer is a privilege that I’ve enjoyed for nine years and it has been an honour to work with such professional colleagues. I have thoroughly enjoyed my work in Stockport and wish to thank everyone for their dedication and collaboration over what has been the most challenging time any of our generation has experienced.

“It is great to be leaving capable staff and partnership working that is stronger than it has ever been.  I am confident the CCG team, and partners, are in safe hands for their final stage of transition to the new integrated care organisation.”
