COVID-19 Safety Measures Still in Place in Stockport GP Practices

Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), together with Stockport GP Practices, has confirmed that safety measures to protect patients, staff and public from COVID-19 in GP surgeries and health centres across Stockport will continue from Monday, 19 July, despite the easing of restrictions elsewhere.

This means all staff, patients and visitors must continue to follow guidelines, including wearing a face covering, and complying with social distancing and hand hygiene guidance as before. The NHS will continue to support staff in ensuring that the guidance is followed in all healthcare settings.

Everyone still has a part to play in helping to control COVID-19 by getting vaccinated and acting responsibly. It is vital, that in healthcare settings, we all do what we can to reduce the risk of infection for those working in our services and those who need our care.  

Safety measures in primary care have helped to protect staff, patients and visitors over the past year, and enabled Primary Care to continue to provide services. As well as face masks, social distancing and hand hygiene other innovations have been put in place. This includes an increase in online consultations and telephone advice services, which have been proven highly effective with patients and families.

With cases of infection still spreading both locally and nationally, GP practices across Stockport are continuing to keep these measures in place to provide ongoing protection.

It is important for the public to continue to play their part when visiting NHS and care settings to help protect our staff and patients, particularly those who may be more vulnerable to infections. 

Dr Cath Munro, Chair, NHS Stockport CCG, said: “It is fantastic that we have had a high rate of COVID-19 vaccination uptake in Stockport, but unfortunately people can still catch the virus, without feeling any ill effects, and then pass it on to others.

“It’s very important the public can be confident about accessing or visiting local healthcare services safely and that we continue to protect our patients who remain vulnerable to COVID-19.

“That’s why even though restrictions are being lifted elsewhere, we’re asking staff, patients and visitors to continue to play their part to help to protect ourselves and each other.”
