Members of the armed forces from across the country have landed in Stockport to help us with the vaccination programme with sightings in Cheadle and Tame Valley so far.
The team has been deployed to support the COVID-19 vaccination campaign. In Stockport there are a number of housebound patients who needed vaccinating. The armed forces clinicians have therefore been deployed in Stockport from Tuesday to Friday this week and are covering all areas to ensure as many housebound patients as possible are vaccinated.
Dr Viren Mehta from Cheadle Medical Practice is coordinating the response across Stockport and Viren told us: “They are an amazing help and patients have contacted us already tell us how lovely they all are. They are fully trained clinical staff and are fully briefed on the logistics of administering vaccinations in people’s own homes. They are working with all the GP practices to highlight and jointly validate suitable patients. The practice is then contacting the patient in advance to inform that a uniformed clinician will be visiting them to administer the vaccine. It’s a really great example of NHS and military working together to get the job done”.
