Monday briefing 3.7.17

Governing Body

There had  been an update on Healthier Together, the commissioning review and the Stockport Together listening exercise.

The patient story was excellent and well worth watching to get an understanding of how we need to change the system for the better. A link will be sent out if appropriate permissions received.

There was a long discussion on Stockport Together. It is very easy to focus on the risks of change when we are working on transforming the system however the risks of not changing are potentially greater.

From locality chairs there was frustration about some of the detail, feelings about not making progress and confusion about money for meetings etc. This kind of thing needs to be managed to ensure that small problems dont get in the way of making important progress.

Deeep dive

There was a deep dive of the Stockport Together work led by Lesley Brown and Tim Ryley. The work on the benefits realisation was seen as a really good peice of work and on the whole the meeting went well. Well done to the team who worked on gathering the evidence.

Business cases

The business cases are going through the various committees. Stockport  NHS Foundation Trust supported but with a range of caveats, Viaduct supported but had a number of questions about the detail, Overview and scrutiny committee also discussed. The process is important – these are still ‘outline’ business cases so lots to be done before they can all be turned into services on the ground.

MCP

The process to develop an MCP is still going ahead but there are a number of complex issues to work through. For example, how GPs are fully engaged, how mental health is embedded, how the new structure really supports change. It is complex and being carefully managed.

Strategic partnership board

It would be useful for staff to read John Rouses’ update as this provides a helpful flavour of the issues across Greater Manchester https://www.greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk/download/meetings/id/2108/item_04_chief_officers_update

Complaints

Please ensure that any concerns, issues or complaints are sent onto Carmen. Sometimes complaints come in to the CCG in a less formal way directly to members of staff however it is important that these are still dealt with by Carmen under the correct process.
