Target Audience/Eligibility Criteria
This session is targeted at GPs, Practice Nurses, Assistant Practitioner, Health Care Assistants and Phlebotomists who are already competent in undertaking venepuncture and who regularly perform this procedure. If you are not regularly performing this procedure it would be more suitable for you to attend the initial venepuncture course which provides more in-depth training.
Course Aim
This half day workshop aims to assist the practitioner in updating their knowledge and skills in venepuncture.
Course Content
The course will cover the following areas:
- Product update
- Pre-analytical aspects of blood collection
- Optional practical practice workshop (see additional information)
- Infection prevention and control update
- Update on local and national policy including medico-legal aspects

This session will be carried out via a video conferencing platform called MS Teams, delegates will need a computer or smart phone to join, where possible they are encouraged to use a web camera to fully participate. All joining details and coaching will be available before the session
Cost
This course is free of charge for those from Stockport General Practices. For all other delegates the cost is £25 per person.
