Stockport Practice Nursing Teams Forum

Advanced Care Planning - Free Training Opportunity

Stockport Specialist Palliative Care Team are offering this training, which includes why advanced acre planning is important, how to start conversations, where to record and how to share care plans. The training is for all health and social care Professionals involved with people with life limiting illnesses. Being Well Leadership Development Training Programme

The NHS Wellbeing Programme is being launched in September 2025 as a training programme for all Primary Care providers in Greater Manchester. The training is relevant to anyone with an interest in developing their leadership skills from a wellbeing perspective, recognising that being well at work should not be framed as an individual choice or luxury but as an embedded, organic part of professional life and team culture. The Programme is being delivered online in 2 sessions, each lasting 1.5 hours, with a number of dates and times available. Annual North-West CVKM (Cardio-Vascular, Kidney and Metabolic (Diabetes)) Forum - Open for Registration

Taking place on Thursday 25th September 2025, 3pm – 6.30 or Friday 26th September 2025, 9am – 4pm at Hyatt Regency Manchester, 55 Booth Street West, Manchester M15 6PQ. Diabetes Network Clinical Lead Professor Naresh Kanumilli and Specialist Nurse Clinical Lead Nicola Milne, will be chairing an event which will put the spotlight on cardio-vascular-kidney-metabolic (CVKM) conditions. Domestic Abuse Learning Webinar - GP Focus

NHS England’s Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Team have shared the session link to their next Webinar with a guest speaker from Primary Care, Dr Seema Haider, NHS Practitioner Health and research fellow Dr Sandi Dheensa from University of Bristol. Dr Haider is a GP with lived experience of domestic abuse and has collaborated with Dr Dheensa and the Practitioner Healthcare Network on how to better support GPs that experience domestic abuse. The session will cover: Lived experience of domestic abuse from a GP perspective; The evidence base relating to health care professionals’ experience of domestic abuse; Q&A. Suicide Awareness for Professionals

Stockport MBC are offering a new date for this popular training, which is free of charge for anyone working or volunteering in Stockport. The next available session is Thursday 30th September 2025, 1.30 – 4pm via zoom. The course: Develops understanding and compassion; Tackles myths, stigma and barriers; Introduces concept that suicide is not inevitable – people can be helped and module includes the latest research and evidence; Helps delegates understand how distress develops and how people can be best supported; Develops common language between community, services and those in distress; Gives delegates the confidence and the skills practice of talking to someone in distress; Develops a compassionate approach for demanding and time-pressured environments; Equips the delegate with the knowledge of how to use www.StayingSafe.net to make their own Safety Plan. This forum has been arranged to take place just before the virtual Masterclass on Thursday 11th September, 12.30 – 1.30. Advanced Clinical Practice 2025/26 Cohorts - Launch of Waiting List Application Deadline Friday 22nd August 2025, 5pm

NHSE Faculty for Advancing Practice across the North West are pleased to announce the launch of the waiting list application process to support the educational training funding for MSc Advanced Clinical Practice Spring 2026 cohorts. The deadline for late submissions is 5pm on Friday 22nd August 2025 and the outcome of the process will be sent to organisations as soon as possible and no later than Thursday 4th September 2025. This funding is currently set at £30k over the duration of the programme. Please note due to upcoming changes to how L7 apprenticeships are funded, this may be the last opportunity to take advantage of the L7 ACP Apprenticeship Pathway. Primary Care applications can be completed via this link, please also complete a Primary Care Readiness Checklist. Please be aware of the following: Applications should reflect the workforce need that you are able to support – withdrawing places before enrolment may result in other organisations being denied much needed places; Support and supervision are key to success of learners – please consider how your learning environment will actively allow learners to flourish; Funding is dependent on the demand-led process being followed – securing a place on a programme with the education institution directly does not guarantee funding; Funding is the organisation not the learner – movement across organisations whilst in education is dependent on the new employer agreeing to continue support; The faculty will fund up to 3 modules to complete the Advancing Practice Masters qualification. An Introduction to MyWay Diabetes - August Webinars

MyWay Diabetes is a free online platform helping people with all types of diabetes to learn more about their condition. These 20-minute webinars, taking place on Tuesday 12th August, 1pm – 1.20 and Wednesday 20th August, 12pm – 12.20 are suitable for GP or PCN Lead for Diabetes, Specialist or PNs and other HCPs with an interest or role in diabetes support and care using EMIS, Vision and System One clinical systems. NIHR Senior Research Leader (SRL) - Cohort 4 call AHPs, Nurses, Midwives

The Senior Research Leader Programme (SRL) supports Nurses, Midwives and from August 2025 Allied Health Professionals to grow as research leaders and drive improvements in health and social care through research. You can apply for funding to take part in this 3-year programme, which allows protected time for research for 2 days a week. The programme is open to registered nurses and midwives and AHPs working in England with experience in research leadership in health or social care at a local and/or regional level. The programme will enable you to use your knowledge and personal experiences to lead, empower and motivate others to participate in research-related activities that improve patient care.  We are seeking individuals from diverse health and social care backgrounds who excel in leading research, fostering collaboration, and generating innovative ideas. Understanding Triage Methodologies

This course is funded using national ring-fenced CPD funding from NHSE, therefore only the following roles are eligible to attend – GPNs, ACPs (excluding Pharmacists), Nurse Associates, ANPs, Paramedics & Physiotherapists. The aim of this module is to provide you with the knowledge required to utilise triage and decision-making theories to assess the urgency of patients’ needs and apply principles of prioritisation and the identification of red flags. The course commencing on 11th September will run over a 6-week period (1 day weekly), the classes will run from 9am – 4pm on: (Thursday’s); 11th September; 18th September; 25th September; 2nd October; 9th October; 16th October. This module is delivered using a Campus Plus blended learning approach, this involves timetabled face-face campus-based and online sessions. You are also expected to carry out your own independent study including research and assessment activities. Non-Medical Prescribing Funding Available

NHS Greater Manchester (Stockport Locality) has access to funds for Non-Medical Prescribing training. The aim of this training is to prepare suitably experienced and qualified nurses and AHPs (including Midwives, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Paramedics and Dieticians) to become safe and competent independent/supplementary prescribers. There are stringent criteria to allow access to this course, please follow this link for further details regarding the criteria and the application process. Further information is also available here. At most universities, the NMP programme is a 6-month course and delegates would need to attend university for one-day pre week. Details of which Universities you can access for this course are in the application form, available here. Intake is usually around January or September therefore application submissions should give sufficient time for processing. The upcoming course dates are: September 2025; University of Bolton, UcLan, MMU, Manchester University, Edge Hill, University of Salford: January 2026; MMU: February 2026; Edge Hill: May 2026; MMU: June 2026; University of Salford.

Greater Manchester Primary Care Summit 2025 - Save the Date

Responding Well to Conflict Training for Frontline Staff

The GM Training Hub are inviting Advanced Practitioners (APs) from across the GM System to submit posters for the upcoming GM Advancing Practicing Conference. This is your opportunity to shine a spotlight on the innovative work you’re doing – whether in service design, quality improvement, research, financial impact, efficiency gains or productivity enhancements – all contributing to improved patient care. They are particularly interested in initiatives that are led by APs and align with the Long Term Plan’s three transformation shifts: taking care from hospital into the community. moving conversations and celebrate the vital role APs play across their system and there will also be awards on the day. Dermatology SPoA Webinar

The GM Dermatology Transformation team will be running a series of summer lunchtime webinars, to support practices to use the new Dermatology SPoA, Accenda Gateway software. The sessions will: Provide and overview of the GM Dermatology Transformation Programme; Demonstrate how to use the software; Answer any questions you may have about the process. All sessions will cover the same content so please attend the session that is more suitable for you. The sessions are for anyone who is involved in GP practice Dermatology referrals including Clinicians, Practice Managers and Secretaries. Stockport Child Health Surveillance Course

This two-day interactive course is designed to provide an overview of the developmental and other common health problems in children. It will be taking place on Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd January 2026 (delegates must attend the 2 full days to obtain a certificate of attendance). Following on from the theory course, practical sessions must be undertaken to cover the full spectrum of the course content. These practical sessions should be undertaken during your general practice placement. Please see the course content for further details. 0-5 Immunisation Schedule Changes: Latest Resources and Training Opportunities

To support changes to the childhood vaccination schedule from 1 July, a communications resource pack is now available here. This includes a range of supporting communications materials in one place to support healthcare professionals including signposting to training materials and patient leaflets as well as communications materials to support queries and conversations with patients. A webinar was hosted by UKHSA, with key spokespeople from UKHSA and NHSE on 11th June which was attended by thousands of GPs and ICB colleagues. Greater Manchester Workshops: Changes to the Childhood Immunisation Schedule

Greater Manchester Screening & Immunisation Team are facilitating several online workshops to support you through the planned changes taking effect from 1st July 2025. The workshops will be open to all healthcare professionals working in Greater Manchester, with a role in immunisation particularly those working in primary care, health visiting and community teams, including hospital and trust-based staff. To note, this is a workshop for health care colleagues only and not open to members of the public. It is hoped that, by attending one of these workshops, you will gain further detail on the changes with a chance to ask questions. There is no need to join all sessions as the core content of the workshop will be repeated at each session, with opportunity to ask questions at the end. Each question and answer will be added to a Q and A paper after each session, this will be available to view on FutureNHS platform (link below).
