Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment (SSSA)

Greater Manchester Training Hub (GMTH) organise Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment training sessions (SSSA Training) for colleagues who are new to, or interested in supervising and assessing undergraduate nurses and, trainee nurse associates or allied health professionals.  This training and subsequent self-declaration as an assessor or supervisor has replaced the need to complete the mentoring units (MSLAP).

Standards for student supervision and assessment set out our expectations for the learning, support and supervision of students in the practice environment. They also set out how students are assessed for theory and practice. These standards help nursing and midwifery students achieve the NMC proficiencies and programme outcomes. All nursing and midwifery professionals must practise in line with the requirements of The Code, the professional standards of practice and behaviour that nurses, midwives and nursing associates are expected to uphold.

As there are no current dates for SSSA training it has been agreed that individuals can complete some relevant e-Learning. This can be found at https://learninghub.nhs.uk/catalogue/eele.

The Modules available are as follows and all will ideally be completed. Th mandatory sessions are the ones shown in bold:
