Course Overview
LGBTQ+ History Month with Pride in Practice is a chance to celebrate and take a look at how language can effectively shape your relationships with LGBTQ+ patients.
The language we use is crucial in developing positive relationships, especially with those who are marginalised such as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans patients. The words you use – and the way you use them – can provide room for your patients to share important information, signal respect for your patients’ identities, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. This, in turn, can support LGBTQ+ patients to access timely and appropriate care.
This webinar aims to improve your knowledge and confidence with using LGBTQ+ inclusive language. We’ll define some key LGBTQ+ terms that you’re likely to come across in your work. We’ll then focus on practical ways that open and inclusive language can be embedded into your daily practice, featuring real life case studies and interactive activities. Finally, you’ll discover resources to support with your ongoing learning.
