Minor Surgery Update – Skin Surgery

Target Audience/Eligibility Criteria

This course is suitable for General Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners who have previously completed a minor surgery course. It will meet the revalidation requirements to remain on the Minor Surgery Performers List.

Course Aim

This session aims to provide practitioners who are already on the Minor Surgery List with a training session to update their knowledge and skills around minor skin surgery. It will include performing and being observed undertaking procedural skills.

Course Content

This course will include:

  • A lecture-based session covering suspicious lesions; this will cover the diagnosis & management of precancerous lesions and skin cancer as well diagnostic tips and when to refer.
  • A practical workshop covering:
    o Curettage, cautery and excision
    o Different subcutaneous and surface suturing techniques

Cost

This event is for Stockport practices only. It will be partially sponsored. Details of sponsors to be confirmed. The maximum cost per person for this training is £50. This cost could be reduced if we receive a high number of bookings. The cost of this training will be deducted from your next practice payment from NHS GM.
