Overview
In order to help support Stockport General Practice Health Care Professionals develop their skills in new clinical areas and embed learning gained from formal training courses a team of experienced, highly skilled health professionals working in Stockport General Practice has been established to provide mentoring support. Any of the team members can be contacted to provide individual support for those new to general practice or those new to specific clinical areas. The mentors will facilitate and support best practice and help colleagues to embed their learning and attain competence in the specific clinical area. The way this support will be provided can be agreed between the mentor and the mentee when the initial request is made. This could be observing the mentor in a patient clinic, being observed running your own clinic with support from the mentor or discussing case studies etc.
The Process

- The mentorship will commence. Each learner can have a maximum of 4 sessions of mentorship. Additional sessions can be authorised if required. This needs to be agreed prior to additional sessions taking place.
