Target Audience/Eligibility Criteria
The training is modular and designed for all levels of understanding of stroke/Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) care. The Greater Manchester Neurorehabilitation & Integrated Stroke Delivery Network is a partnership of NHS providers of care in the Greater Manchester region, including Eastern Cheshire. Their vision is to support the development of high quality and equitable services in Greater Manchester, to achieve the best outcomes and experience for patients. The network has a wide range of training opportunities and resources for primary care staff that can be accessed via their training webpages. You may need to be registered and logged in to access.
Course Aim
This training aims to:
- Improve understanding of the incidence, types, causes and impacts of stroke
- Appreciate the need for rapid and accurate assessment of stroke and of the Greater Manchester stroke care pathway
- Gain knowledge of stroke care provided in hospitals and also in the community, including support for recovery in the longer term
- Provide a detailed understanding of the interventions that prevent stroke, both primary and secondary
Course Content
The training is based on the National Clinical Guideline and contains links to websites and videos. Learning is assessed via short quizzes, with a certificate issued upon successful completion at the end of the package.
Course Duration
It takes up to 4 hours to complete if all resources are accessed (it can be done more quickly).
