Smoking Cessation – How to Support in Primary Care

Target Audience/Eligibility Criteria 

This session is suitable for health care professionals working in general practice whose role includes assisting patients to stop smoking.

 

Course Aim

This session will provide health care professionals working in General Practice with the knowledge and skills to support their patients with smoking cessation.

 

Course Content

This session will cover:

  • Making smoking history by 2030
  • Why smokers find it difficult to stop
  • Vapes
  • The use of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT)
  • Varenicline
  • Cytisine
  • Brief intervention and referral
