Target Audience/Eligibility Criteria
This course is aimed at workers in the health and social care sectors and has been mapped to the CQC Common Induction Standards. It is classed as meeting level 2 in the intercollegiate document.
This training course is for anyone who encounters adults at risk of abuse in the community, in a person’s own home, in a hospital, in a day care or residential setting. This includes formal and informal carers, volunteers, health and social care professionals.
Course Aim
This e-learning module provides an introduction to Safeguarding Adults. It includes relevant regulations; definitions and useful terms and roles and responsibilities.
Course Content
The course content includes:
- Commonly held attitudes towards adults at risk and how these impact on the service provided
- How values and attitudes can block recognition and effect the decisions professionals make regarding taking action
- An outline of the signs, indicators, definitions and types of abuse including unintentional harm
- A reflection on the law, including key legislation and guidance regarding issues of consent and duty of care
- What to do if you have any concerns, what your responsibility is, what happens next and the role and responsibility of managers

Booking Process/Additional Information
- Level 1– This module can be accessed via elfh – Safeguarding Adults Level 1. The course name is ‘Safeguarding Adults – Level 1’ for all staff working in healthcare settings (inc. GP Admin)
- Level 2 – This module can be accessed via elfh – Safeguarding Adults Level 2. The course name is Safeguarding Adults – Level 2′ for all non-clinical and clinical staff who have any contact with patients, their families or carers, or the public. (GP Practice Managers, Health Care Assistants, APs, Pharmacists)
- The refresher requirement for L1 & 2 can be completed by undertaking the e-learning as a refresher plus by receiving training from the GP Safeguarding Lead, reading and reflecting on newsletters etc.
