Preventing Radicalisation Level 3 (e-learning)

Target Audience/Eligibility Criteria

This session is aimed at all clinical staff working with adults, children and young people and/or their parents or carers who could potentially contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and/or evaluating the needs of a service user.  In General Practice, this includes all GP’s, Advanced Practitioners, Practice Nurses, any Counsellors employed by practice, Pharmacists, Paramedics, Physiotherapists and others AHPs.  It should be undertaken within 12 months of starting in a relevant role followed by refresher period based on local assessment (It should be undertaken every 3 years as a minimum). 

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion, delegates will:

  • Understand the objectives of the Prevent strategy and the health sector contribution to the Prevent agenda
  • Know your personal and professional responsibilities in relation to safeguarding of adults, children and young people at risk
  • Understand and identify vulnerability factors that may make individuals susceptible to radicalisation or a risk to others
  • Know how to share concerns, seek advice and make referrals within their own organisation and with other agencies where appropriate
  • Understand referral mechanism to Prevent case management and understand Channel multi-agency arrangements to provide support and redirection to individuals at risk of radicalisation
  • Understand the importance of sharing information and the consequences of failing to do so

 Course Duration

The course is approximately 45 minutes and the assessment 15 minutes.

Booking Process/Additional Information

Please note if Level 3 is required, individuals do not need to complete Level 1 and 2 first. Training at level 3 can be delivered through a combination of face-to-face and e-learning, including:

  • Face-to-face training (for example, workshop to raise awareness of PREVENT (WRAP)
  • Preventing radicalisation – level 3 e-learning (e-LfH)
  • Prevent referrals e-learning (GOV.UK)
  • It should be undertaken within 12 months of starting in a relevant role followed by refresher period based on local assessment (It should be undertaken every 3 years as a minimum).

Examples of conpleting the annual update could be receiving cascaded updates from the GP Safeguarding Leads and reading/actioning information shared from the NHS GM Stockport Locality Team in the GP Bulletin.
