Infection Prevention & Control – Non-clinical (e-learning)

Course Aim

This e-learning highlights the importance of preventing and controlling infection and best practice in the healthcare setting.  It outlines how you can contribute to infection prevention and control in your workplace by taking appropriate precautions and understanding your responsibilities.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course delegates will:

  • Know how they can contribute to infection, prevention and control in their workplace
  • Be able to demonstrate the standard infection, prevention and control precautions relevant to their role such as hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, exposure to blood and bodily fluids and waste management
  • Understand their responsibility to preventing passing on infections in the workplace

Booking Process/Additional Information

  • This module can be accessed via elfh – Infection Prevention and Control Level 1. The course name is ‘Infection Prevention and Control – Level 1 for All staff including contactors, unpaid and voluntary staff.
  • Enquiries can be made via gmicb-sto.learningdevelopment@nhs.net or 07393 798115.
  • The Core Skills Framework recommends that all staff should undertake level 1 infection control training as a minimum every 3 years.  Clinical staff should undertake level 2 training every year.  This training is classed as level 1.
  • The preferred method for undertaking this training is via a tutor led session.  However, if this is not possible e-learning can be undertaken to meet this need.
