Fire Safety

Target Audience/Eligibility Criteria

This session is aimed at the whole general practice workforce.  As a result of the Fire Safety Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the provision of fire training has become a legal requirement for all employees within the UK.

Course Aim

The course aims to provide delegates with the relevant guidance related to fire safety management to enable them to help assess and address potential fire safety risks.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course delegates will:

  • Understand the characteristics of fire, smoke and toxic fumes
  • Be able to describe the fire hazards involved in the working environment
  • Be able to discuss the significant findings of relevant fire risk assessments
  • Practice and promote fire prevention
  • Know instinctively/describe the action to take if fire breaks out/smoke is detected
  • Identify the different type of fire extinguishers, state their use and identify the safety precautions associated with their use
  • State the evacuation procedure and associated escape routes at their location
  • Apply evacuation techniques and utilise appropriate fire fighting equipment

This training can be arranged to run in your practice setting.

Cost

£85 plus VAT.  There is no maximum number of delegates other than due to room constraints.

Please note NHS GM (Stockport) is not funding this training.  The costs are the responsibility of the practice.  Please discuss the exact cost and invoicing process with the trainer directly.

  • Fire awareness training should be undertaken annually. Trainer led training is required as a minimum every 2 years.  For staff with responsibility for evacuating others they will need to receive trainer led training annually.
