Digital Learning Solutions (MS Office Training – this was IT Skills Pathway)

Digital Learning Solutions provides access to training and assessment products covering the full range of competencies for users of the main Microsoft Office products, from basic through to advanced. It has been developed to provide an officially recognised route of learning and certification for the whole workforce and includes “just in time” training via a searchable resource tool (the knowledge bank). Packages covered include Microsoft Word; Excel; Outlook; PowerPoint and OneNote.  There are also resources to help with more basic skills such as mouse and keyboard skills.

Its purpose is to encourage everyone working with IT to review their current IT skills and knowledge against recognised standards, determine what their skill gaps are and then identify their current and future training requirements based on the products that are available.

Stockport CCG has been set up as a Centre so all staff in the CCG and General Practices can access these resources free of charge.

The two main resources are:

  • E-learning – The e-learning includes different resources:
    • Diagnostic – this can be used for each Microsoft Package to help you determine which elements of the package you would benefit from completing learning on.
    • The Learning Modules themselves which include
      • Outline of the tutorial objectives
      • Video of the elements of the module
      • Interactive tutorial
      • Supporting information
    • Post Learning Assessment – this allows you to test your skills and knowledge and will show if you have passed the module or need to undertake further learning.
  • Knowledge bank – this provides instant access to quality controlled standardised answers to Microsoft programme IT queries. This is used to get immediate training on particular topics that you need to cover e.g. ‘how to use a pivot table’ or hoe to ‘copy and paste information’. Please note the videos will work but there could be issues with the tutorials as most NHS laptops do not have Shockwave installed which is needed for some of the tutorials.
