Diabetic Foot Care Update

Target Audience/Eligibility Criteria

Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Assistant Practitioners and Health Care Assistants who have previously attended the full day diabetic foot care session or have extensive experience with completing diabetic foot screening.

Course Aim

This session aims to provide those who undertake diabetic foot screening with the latest guidance and information to enable them to confidently complete a diabetic foot screening.  The session will provide an update on the diabetic foot and how to competently complete a diabetic foot screening.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course delegates will:

  • Have up to date knowledge of potential foot complications of diabetes
  • Be able to complete a diabetic foot screening on low risk patients
  • Know when to refer to Podiatry and the Diabetes Foot Service
  • Be able to identify diabetic foot emergency and know when to refer
  • Have a knowledge of Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD)
  • Be able to complete a Doppler assessment and how to interpret Doppler results
  • Understand when and how to utilise the PVD referral route

This session will be carried out via a video conferencing platform, delegates will need a computer or smart phone to join, where possible they are encouraged to use a web camera to fully participate. All joining details will be available before the session.

This course is free of charge to all those from Stockport General Practices.
