Chaperoning Training – Video Conference

Target Audience:

This course has been specifically designed for both clinical staff and non-clinical staff who will be performing chaperone duties. The NHS Clinical Governance Team recommends that all staff undertaking this role have specific training.

Course Aim:

This course will outline the role of the chaperone and when clinicians should utilise them.

Learning Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course delegates will be able to:

  • Define what is meant by the term “chaperone”
  • Describe what an “intimate examination” is
  • Explain why chaperones need to be present
  • Discuss the legal issues – the rights of the patient
  • Explain how to deal with special situations
  • Describe the chaperone’s role and responsibilities
  • Gain experience of the kinds of equipment and examinations you may see

These sessions will be carried out via a video conferencing platform called Zoom, delegates will need a computer or smart phone to join, where possible they are encouraged to use a web camera to fully participate. All joining details and coaching will be available before the session.
