Booking Procedure and Terms and Conditions for the Stockport General Practice Workforce

Cost

The majority of the training provision outlined in this portfolio is free of charge for all general practices in the Stockport area, however there may be a charge made for attendees cancelling at short notice.  There will be a charge made for delegates not attending the training at all.

Courses that do have associated costs will be clearly indicated in the individual course description.  For non- NHS Greater Manchester Stockport Locality delegates please see the Additional Terms and Conditions.

Any such costs will be the responsibility of the practice or individual to pay and this must be agreed before booking a place.  It will be assumed upon receipt of a booking for a course with associated costs that they will be the practices responsibility. Please advise at the time of booking if this is not the case.

Course Eligibility

Each course will highlight the specified target audience and any associated criteria to enable access to the course.  We will assume, upon receipt of a booking, that the applicant fits this criteria.

Please note that it is an employer’s responsibility to ensure that individuals employed in any patient facing role (including receptionists) are up to date with the recommended vaccinations for healthcare staff as outlined in the Green Book https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/immunisation-of-healthcare-and-laboratory-staff-the-green-book-chapter-12

Booking Procedure and Terms and Conditions

  • Please discuss all potential bookings with your line manager, as appropriate, prior to contacting the Education, Training and Development team.
  • Please book as outlined on the ‘Booking Process/Further Information’ instructions for each individual course.
  • For any course that is bookable via the Virtual College Learning Management System please note – if you have registered for a face to face training event or completed any Virtual College e-learning through NHS Greater Manchester (Stockport Locality) since May 2015 you will already be registered on the system. Please click on the LOGIN link and enter your username (your employee email address) and password. If you have forgotten your login details please do not re-register, click on the password reset link. Please do not re-register as this will result in duplicate training records.
  • If a course is over-subscribed we will endeavour to provide an alternative session to those who are not allocated a place.
  • Some courses are initially available for one booking per practice. Where this is the case and more than one application is received we will contact the practice to postpone any additional bookings
  • If the learning and development team has to cancel an event we will endeavour to provide a minimum of five working days’ notice and will offer an alternative date whenever possible.
  • If you have a query about a booking please e-mail this query to gmicb-sto.learningdevelopment@nhs.net , otherwise please telephone the team on 07393 798115.

Virtual Sessions

Please note these sessions may be recorded and shared with others working across Stockport in Health & Social Care.  If you attend this session, we will assume, you consent to the event being recorded and shared.  If you have any concerns around this please email gmicb-sto.learningdevelopment@nhs.net.

Non-Attendance / Cancellation

The department is sympathetic to issues which may arise, however, if an individual is unable to attend an event for any reason, the learning and development team should be contacted via e-mail on gmicb-sto.learningdevelopment@nhs.net as soon as possible to cancel or defer the booking.  Cancelling may enable another individual to attend instead which will help ensure best use of our resources. Unless otherwise specified in the individual course details, Practices will be invoiced for non-attendance at a rate of £10 per person.  No charge will be made for cancellations.

Attendance

Based on feedback from delegates, full-day courses generally run from 9.30am – 4.30pm to allow for extended travel times and the provision of childcare.  If an individual knows in advance they may be late for an event they should contact the learning and development team to discuss their requirements; most events build on new knowledge from the beginning and as such is it often difficult to catch up any vital time lost.  Anyone arriving late should bear in mind that to be fair to other delegates, the trainer/facilitator may not have the opportunity to recap on any concepts missed.

It is at the trainer/facilitator’s discretion to allow access to anyone who may be more than 15 minutes late to minimise disruption to other delegates.

Delegates are expected to stay for the whole duration of the training – any delegate leaving early will not be given a certificate and the attendance will be marked as incomplete on our system.

Smoking

Premises used are non-smoking (including e-cigarettes) and all delegates are required to adhere to this policy.

Travel

All travel expenses are the responsibility of the attendees and will not be funded by NHS Greater Manchester Stockport locality.

Refreshments

Tea and coffee will be provided at all events.  Lunch will not normally be provided.  If lunch is available this will be clearly stipulated in the individual course description.

Complaints

In the unlikely event that anyone is unhappy with any aspect of the service, please contact Maria Murphy, Education, Training & Development Manager on mmurphy@nhs.net or 07990 567959.
