Basic Life Support – Non-Clinical (e-learning)

Target Audience/Eligibility Criteria

This training is suitable for the non-clinical general practice workforce. Initially and every 3 years non-clinical staff should undertake a face to face training session (further details below).

Course Aim

This courses provides valuable information about what to do if you come across someone in need of CPR, whether at work or in your day-to-day life.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Be able to recognise cardiorespiratory arrest.
  • Know how to summon emergency help.
  • Be able to start cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) using chest compressions.

This is variable as it is e-learning.  Approximately 1-2 hours

Booking Process/Additional Information

  • Non clinical staff should have face to face BLS training initially and every 3 years.  This module is suitable for  year 2 and year 3 of the cycle only.
  • This course is called Statutory & Mandatory Training: Basic Life Support (Non-Clinical)
  • Bookings for this course should be made via the Virtual College LMS:

  • Staff with direct clinical care responsibilities including all qualified healthcare professionals should undertake the face to face training annually. It is good practice for all members of the healthcare team to undertake BLS training as a minimum every 18 months.
