Antimicrobial Resistance – An Introduction (e-learning)

Target Audience/Eligibility Criteria

This course is suitable for all practice staff including Practice Managers, Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Assistant Practitioners, Health Care Assistants, Reception Staff and Prescription Clerks.

Course Aim

This e-learning session provides key facts about antimicrobial resistance and describes the important role everyone working in a health and care environment, including non-clinical staff and the general public has in tackling it. It also discusses relevant aspects of the antimicrobial prescribing and stewardship competences. As part of our CCG commitment to increasing awareness of overuse of antibiotics we would like all staff to increase their knowledge on how we can all reduce the risk of antimicrobial resistance developing and spreading by completing this 30 minute on line course.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this module delegates will be able to:

  • Discuss why there is such a concern about misuse of antibiotics and antimicrobial resistance
  • List the key risks for development of antimicrobial resistance
  • Identify their role in tackling antimicrobial resistance
