Cancer – Improving the Quality of your Referral Module – Gateway C (e-learning)
Target Audience:
All Primary Care Professionals including GP’s and Practice Nurses
Overview:
This course aims to support healthcare professional in making high quality and appropriate suspected cancel referrals. You will be presented with specialist discussions alongside examples of patient communication and a range of activities to reinforce learning points.
Course Content:
This course covers the following topics:
- Making the right decision: Clinical decision making and safety netting, including a toolkit to support this
- Preparing your patient: What patients want to know when a referral is made to effectively support them and to reduce the number of DNAs
- Addressing inequalities: Benefits and challenges of remote consultations, including strategies for tailoring care to patient needs
- Completing quality referrals: Information that should be included in the referral to reduce avoidable delays at secondary care
