Course Aims:

This session aims to provide basic terminology on how clinical words are put together, including:

  • Prefixes
  • Suffixes – how they are used
  • Acronyms
  • Hospital Departments and where to go for help

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the session delegates will have an increased confidence in using medical terminology, searching for medical terminology on the internet and working out what a particular term means. They will understand some common acronyms, how medical words are structured and have a go at making some words from prefixes and suffixes. This will equip them with the knowledge and understanding so that they don’t book a patient for anti-natal but for ante-natal care.

This session will be carried out via a video conferencing platform, delegates will need a computer or smart phone to join, where possible they are encouraged to use a web camera to fully participate. All joining details and coaching will be available before the session.
