We now have a range of support for practices/PCNs who have employed or are wanting to employ nurses new to primary care, whether this be newly qualified or those who have been working in different settings. There are two different offers. The GPN Foundation Training (the digital offer) and the GPN Foundation Skills Training (f2f and online) is for any nurse, Practice or PCN employed, who would benefit from GPN foundation skills, this is likely to be any nurse transitioning into primary care from a different setting.
1) Greater Manchester GPN Foundation Digital Training Programme
Target Audience
This free accredited training programme is suitable for Newly Qualified Nurses, Nurses transitioning into General Practice, ‘New to General Practice’ Nurses and GPN’s within their first year of qualifying.

The GM GPN Foundation training programme aims to support Practice’s and PCN’s with the recruitment and training of GPN’s within General Practice. 2) Greater Manchester Training Hub Foundation Skills Course in General Practice Nursing
Target Audience
This programme is for NMC Registered Nurses and Nursing Associates who are either newly qualified, or new to general practice wishing to develop their skills and progress their career within primary care.
Course Outline
The GPN Foundation course is a 15 week taught skills course in general practice nursing. Delegates will gain skills essential to primary care, gaining experience, building confidence, enhancing the patient journey and the delivery of care within their daily practice.
This foundation skills course supports personal and professional development, providing the basis for safe and effective care delivery, supporting the transition into primary care.
Delegates will actively participate in their learning and are encouraged to share knowledge and experiences with peers and colleagues. Experienced GPNs will support the course and offer guidance and support throughout the programme.
