Contraception, Reproduction and Sexual Health Modules – CRASH 1

Target Audience/Eligibility Criteria

This unit is the theory element designed for any healthcare professional who regularly works with patients providing sexual health services in primary or secondary care e.g. Practice nurses, Gynae nurses, health care professionals working in GUM, midwives, outreach workers etc.

Course Aim

The overall aim of this unit is to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of the principles underpinning sexual health work within the context of fertility control and health protection, health promotion and health education.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:

  • Critically analyse the main concepts and principles associated with contraception and reproductive sexual health care
  • Critically analyse the evidence and consider its application to practice
  • Critically review the needs of their specific client group in accordance with relevant national policy and guidelines

Cost

£400.00 – This can be fully funded for Practice Nurses by Stockport Integrated Partnership, please email gmicb-sto.learningdevelopment@nhs.net advise you have the practice support to complete this course and would like the CCG to cover the costs.

Booking Process/Additional Information

Process to follow:

  2. Contact admissions at direct@mmu.ac.uk for the application from- return it to the same email address. Clearly state the level of your study (N.B. this will be level 7 only from this September)
  3. Email gmicb-sto.learningdevelopment@nhs.net to advise you have the practice support to complete this course and would like the CCG to cover the costs.
  4. Check emails regularly for prompts from admissions for additional information they may need
  5. Follow the instruction to ensure you are fully enrolled- this is a different process to admissions and needs to be done to ensure you can access the virtual teaching platform (Moodle)
  6. Once fully enrolled you will be able to access your electronic timetable
  7. You will be sent notifications via the Moodle site (instructions on how to access this given with the enrolment information) and via your student emails (MMU student email accounts given once you enrol).
  8. The closing date for registrations is the 10th of September 2021
