Aseptic Non Touch Technique (ANTT) (e-learning)

Target Audience/Eligibility Criteria

This training is targeted at all clinical and non-clinical staff that undertake invasive procedures such as minor operations, wound dressing and venepuncture.  It is essential that a minimum of one person per practice completes this e-learning, all other such staff would receive cascaded training and internal practice assessment (from the individual who has undertaken the e-learning and received external assessment).  Please see overleaf for vital additional information.

Course Aim

This e-learning teaches healthcare workers how to apply the ANTT Clinical Practice Framework to clinical practice using the ANTT-Approach.  The e-learning should be followed by an assessment – see further information.

This training is in line with The Health & Social Care Act 2008 Code of practice on the prevention and control of infections that requires staff who undertake procedures, which require skills such as aseptic non-touch technique, are trained and required to demonstrate proficiency before being allowed to undertake these procedures independently.  Please note that ANTT is only part of the annual infection prevention audits for practices.

Step 5 Reassessment

  • The initial individual trained in ANTT MUST be re-assessed by the Health Protection Nurse and a competency certificate re issued on a three yearly basis to ensure standards of competence are maintained
