27th February 2018
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) will be undertaking a ‘system review’ across Stockport from Monday 12th March 2018.
The CQC System Review is a targeted review of 20 local authority areas across the country with 12 having already had their review last year. It is completely different to CQC inspections we have had which will continue.
The review looks at how hospitals, community care and health services, GP practices, care homes and homecare agencies work together to provide seamless care for people aged 65 and over who live in our area.
The CQC publishes a report, but does not give a formal rating. This review does not affect the CQC rating of any organisation that they may visit.
The review is a 14-week process in total, with a CQC team of around six people expected for the Stockport review. The CQC will ask for evidence from our organisations, as well as the independent voluntary and community sectors.
The review will see a small team visiting Stockport for two days from the week commencing 26th March to run a series of focus groups with staff, people who use our services, care providers and voluntary sector groups and organisations.
Where they decide to focus will depend on their assessment of issues in the Stockport system. This will include a site visit w/c 16th April when they will visit various services and hold further focus groups with the independent, voluntary and community sectors, staff and people who use our services.
At the end of the process, the CQC will publish their report with key findings and recommendations.
We will keep you updated throughout the process including details of staff focus groups.
This is a chance for you to showcase the great work going on in your area to the review team.
