{"id":9829,"date":"2019-04-10T16:18:54","date_gmt":"2019-04-10T15:18:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stockportccg.nhs.uk\/practicehub\/?p=9829"},"modified":"2019-04-10T16:18:54","modified_gmt":"2019-04-10T15:18:54","slug":"clinical-practice-research-datalink","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stockportpracticehub.co.uk\/practicehub\/practice-news\/clinical-practice-research-datalink\/","title":{"rendered":"Clinical Practice Research Datalink"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GP practices in Stockport have an opportunity to gain useful feedback for improving patient care, contribute to medical research and even earn some money by joining <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cprd.com\/generalpractitioner\/\">Clinical Practice Research Datalink<\/a> (CPRD).\u00a0 More than 1350 practices already take part, contributing data which can be used to prove the safety of drugs\/vaccines.\u00a0 A key benefit is receiving regular practice-level prescribing and patient safety <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cprd.com\/generalpractitioner\/QualityImprovementProject.asp\">quality improvement reports<\/a>, which help GPs to review patient care.<\/p>\n<p>Find out more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cprd.com\/how-your-data-makes-a-difference\">here<\/a> about how data can be used to improve patient care.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Type 2 Diabetes clinical trial<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CPRD are also recruiting for a pragmatic clinical trial, DECIDE, which is sponsored by Liverpool University. It is a Type 2 Diabetes trial investigating the effectiveness of Dapagliflozin compared to Standard of Care.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What to expect<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CPRD will identify eligible patients via the platform and crest a list via EMIS.<\/li>\n<li>GP to check the eligible list for patients who they would be happy to move onto second line treatment.<\/li>\n<li>Practice to call these patients to invite them to make an appointment to discuss the study.<\/li>\n<li>GP receives informed consent from the patient and randomise to Dapagliflozin or Non-SU (standard care) or SU (standard care), using the online platform<\/li>\n<li>No study visits are required after a patient is enrolled as data is collected through EMIS Web.<\/li>\n<li>Patient Activity: Patient will complete 6 monthly study questionnaires online, for two years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Trial payments: <\/strong>\u00a0Practice Set up &#8211;\u00a0 \u00a3250 \/ Per Patient recruited-\u00a0 \u00a3300<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to do DECIDE, please list it as your reason for joining.
