This Nurses\u2019 Day, Thursday, 12 May, we\u2019ll be celebrating the incredible work of our nurses across Stockport CCG and the difference they make to patients\u2019 lives.<\/p>\n
International Nurses\u2019 Day is celebrated annually on 12 May to commemorate the birth anniversary of the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale.<\/p>\n
The role of nursing has evolved from its early days of taking orders from doctors and working primarily in hospitals to, now, having a leading role in directing patient care, and leading large organisations in managerial roles.<\/p>\n
Here at Stockport CCG, our Nurses have a wide and diverse range of skills.\u00a0 We have put the spotlight on just some of our amazing nurses showcasing their stories, experiences, and expertise to inspire the next generation.<\/p>\n
Anita Rolfe Interim Accountable Officer\/Executive Nurse at Stockport CCG<\/strong><\/p>\n Anita started her training in 1988 and began her nursing career as a Student Nurse in Oldham.\u00a0 Since then, Anita has worked in every tier of the NHS and is now the Interim Accountable Officer at Stockport CCG.<\/p>\n Anita said: \u201cI\u2019m extremely proud to be a nurse. I am also extremely proud of all the nursing colleagues I work with, especially when we work together for the same purpose of keeping everyone safe and well cared for.\u201d<\/p>\n Sandra Walker RGN, Dip PNS, CCG Head of Quality Assurance, Patient Safety and Complaints at Stockport CCG<\/strong><\/p>\n Sandra played an active role during the Covid pandemic, setting up COVID testing sites and overseeing the roll out of the vaccination programme in Stockport.<\/p>\n Proud to be a Nurse on International Nurses\u2019 Day, Sandra reflects on her nursing career:<\/p>\n Sandra, said: \u201cLast year marked my quarter century in nursing and I remain committed to safety and quality for patients across all of our services and working towards recovery following the COVID pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n Jill Adams \u2013 <\/strong>Primary Care and Community Development Matron at Stockport CCG <\/strong><\/p>\n Jill has many specialist qualifications, but by far one of her greatest achievements, is being recognised by the Queen\u2019s Nursing Institute for her contribution to community nursing – a very prestigious nursing award received in 2014.<\/p>\n We want to take this opportunity on International Nurses\u2019 Day, to thank all nurses. We are proud of the work our fantastic nurses do and the great care they deliver to the Stockport community every day.
