{"id":24952,"date":"2025-04-30T14:27:45","date_gmt":"2025-04-30T13:27:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.stockportpracticehub.co.uk\/practicehub\/?page_id=24952"},"modified":"2025-04-30T14:32:22","modified_gmt":"2025-04-30T13:32:22","slug":"primary-care-wellbeing-leadership-programme","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.stockportpracticehub.co.uk\/practicehub\/primary-care-wellbeing-leadership-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"Primary Care Wellbeing Leadership Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Managers have just as much of an impact on people&#8217;s mental health as their partner (both 69%) &#8211; and even more of an impact than their doctors (51%) or therapist (41%)&#8221;<\/strong> <em>Mental Health At Work, Workforce Institute 2023.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Research consistently demonstrates that leaders&#8217; wellbeing influences workforce wellbeing, which directly impacts patient care, experience and outcomes, playing a critical role in shaping the culture and success of organisations. Focusing on wellbeing is an investment in leadership effectiveness, employee engagement and long-term business sustainability. This NHS programme was piloted nationally in 2022\/23 and is currently being rolled out with primary care providers to develop culture change agents for wellbeing, supported by the NHS Leaders&#8217; Wellbeing Faculty and a national Community of Practice.<\/p>\n<p>As this rollout continues, we are encouraging participation from all four primary care disciplines to acknowledge and address existing workforce priorities and frame a coherent narrative for a longer-term programme for primary care wellbeing leadership, aligning with and building on existing programmes and objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>GM Blueprint Workforce priorities around recruitment, retention, learning and development, linked to workforce health and wellbeing<\/li>\n<li>The NHS Long-Term Workforce Plan emphasising the importance of embedding the right culture to improve retention<\/li>\n<li>NHS Health and Wellbeing Framework, CQC single assessment framework, QOF, Community Pharmacy Assurance Framework and Excellence in Optometry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The full programme consists of <strong>two 2-hour\u00a0<\/strong>modules delivered online, to strengthen leaders&#8217; skills, knowledge and confidence in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Module One &amp; Two &#8211; <\/strong><strong style=\"font-size: revert;color: initial\">The Case for NHS Staff Wellbeing<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Aim &#8211; Demonstrate the importance of prioritising staff wellbeing in the NHS<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Define Wellbeing<\/li>\n<li>Staff wellbeing impacts patient care and experience<\/li>\n<li>The nature of healthcare work (emotional labour, moral injury and the helping personality)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0Leading Your Own Wellbeing <\/strong>(self-awareness and self-management)<\/p>\n<p>Aim &#8211; Explain why building staff wellbeing through leaders and leadership is a uniquely effective\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0approach and offer practical approaches to building leaders\u2019 own wellbeing using the Wellbeing Wheel\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Model:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Mindset and Gratitude<\/li>\n<li>Learning<\/li>\n<li>Purpose and Values<\/li>\n<li>Connections and Relationships<\/li>\n<li>Physical<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Module Three &amp; Four &#8211; Leading Wellbeing\u00a0<\/strong>(using behaviours that create and support healthy workplace and system cultures)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Aim &#8211; Explain what leaders can practically do to lead for wellbeing<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Leading ourselves under pressure and Emotional Intelligence<\/li>\n<li>The ABC of Leading for Wellbeing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Leading Teams for Wellbeing <\/strong>(using behaviours that build workforce wellbeing in teams)<\/p>\n<p>Aim &#8211; to appreciate the importance of teams to wellbeing and patient outcomes and take away\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0approaches to engaging teams in developing their wellbeing<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Wellbeing as a business objective<\/li>\n<li>Domains of Team Wellbeing<\/li>\n<li>Practical ways of leading teams<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Date\/Time\/Booking Details<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>New 2025 dates: to register and receive the Teams link directly, please click on the dates below.
