The Act also aims to balance an individual\u2019s right to be protected from harm if they lack capacity to make decisions to protect themselves. This course aims to help care workers look at how the Act will affect them and to help them to develop best practice to include in the new legislation.\u00a0 The module includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Legislation and Codes of Practice<\/li>\n<li>Understand and Assessing Capacity<\/li>\n<li>Roles and Responsibilities<\/li>\n<li>You and your Organisation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Learning Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Upon successful completion of the module participants will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>List and understand the basic principles of the Act and why we need them<\/li>\n<li>Identify how people make decisions and the decisions that they need to make<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate knowledge of how to assess\/judge if someone has the capacity to make a particular decision<\/li>\n<li>Show that they understand how to make a \u2018best interests\u2019 decision for someone who lacks capacity<\/li>\n<li>Apply the above to their place of work<\/li>\n<li>List the other key features of the Act<\/li>\n<li>Identify where they may need to adapt the way that they document assessments and decisions made on behalf of service users<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Course Duration<\/strong> \u2013 Approximately 30 minutes<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trainer\/Facilitator<\/strong> \u2013 elearning for healthcare<\/p>\n<p><strong>Date\/Time\/Venue<\/strong> &#8211; This is e-learning and can be undertaken at any time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost<\/strong> \u2013 This session is free of charge for all delegates from Stockport General Practices<\/p>\n<p><strong>Booking Process\/Additional Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This training can be accessed via elfh.
