{"id":12670,"date":"2020-07-06T13:02:02","date_gmt":"2020-07-06T12:02:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stockportccg.nhs.uk\/practicehub\/?page_id=12670"},"modified":"2025-10-23T10:23:25","modified_gmt":"2025-10-23T09:23:25","slug":"venepuncture-update","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.stockportpracticehub.co.uk\/practicehub\/learning-and-development-portfolio\/venepuncture-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Venepuncture Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid vc_custom_1585223103967 vc_row-has-fill\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p><strong>Target Audience\/Eligibility Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This session is targeted at GPs, Practice Nurses, Assistant Practitioner, Health Care Assistants and Phlebotomists who are already competent in undertaking venepuncture and who regularly perform this procedure.\u00a0 If you are not regularly performing this procedure it would be more suitable for you to attend the initial venepuncture course which provides more in-depth training.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Aim<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This half day workshop aims to assist the practitioner in updating their knowledge and skills in venepuncture.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Content<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The course will cover the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Product update<\/li>\n<li>Pre-analytical aspects of blood collection<\/li>\n<li>Optional practical practice workshop (see additional information)<\/li>\n<li>Infection prevention and control update<\/li>\n<li>Update on local and national policy including medico-legal aspects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Course Duration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>3 hours<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trainer\/Facilitator<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jacqui Doherty, IV Therapy Practitioner and Advanced Clinical Practitioner<\/p>\n<p><strong>Date\/Time\/Venue <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wednesday 21st January 2026, 1pm &#8211; 4pm<\/p>\n<p>This session will be carried out via a video conferencing platform called MS Teams, delegates will need a computer or smart phone to join, where possible they are encouraged to use a web camera to fully participate. All joining details and coaching will be available before the session<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The maximum cost per person for this training will be \u00a337pp.\u00a0 This cost could be reduced if we receive a high number of bookings.\u00a0 The cost of this training will be deducted from your next practice payment from NHS GM (please see booking process below for further details)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Additional Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To book a place an email must be sent to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><a href=\"mailto:gmicb-sto.learningdevelopment@nhs.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gmicb-sto.learningdevelopment@nhs.net<\/a><\/strong><\/span> from either the Practice Manager or Lead GP confirming names, roles and contact details of those that require places.
